Sept 8: United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Walk the Walk 5K

The United Way of the Coastal Empire will be sponsoring their 2006 Walk the Walk 5K Friday, Sept. 8, 2006 at 6:00pm in City Market, Downtown Savannah. Approximately 400 experienced runners and amateur weekend athletes will take in beautiful downtown Savannah and enjoy a fun, fast 5K course for the 4th Annual Walk the Walk 5K. The event will feature awards for all age groups in both the male and female categories during a post race ceremony, which includes food, beverages, and live entertainment. You may pick up registration forms from the United Way office (428 Bull St., Savannah), United Way member agency locations or Fleet Feet Sports on Waters. All mailed forms must be received by Friday, Sept. 1, 2006. Entry fees are $15 by Sept. 1, $20 after. Start time for the 5K run is 6 pm, 6:05 pm for the 5K walk. Race times will be tabulated by Savannah Striders. Awards will be presented immediately following tabulations at City Market for the top 3 overall male and female and top 3 male and female in each age group. T-shirts will be included in registration for participants over age 10. All proceeds benefit the United Way to support over 90 community-oriented programs and to fulfill their mission: To Improve Lives By Mobilizing The Caring Power of Communities.
