July 4: Hilton Head Firecracker 5000 Run

The 21st Annual Island Packet Firecracker 5000 Road Race and Fun Walk will be held on Tuesday, July 4 at 8am at the Mall at Shelter Cove. The Hilton Head Firecracker 5000 is the largest and oldest road race in Beaufort County, South Carolina. Almost 1,000 runners and walkers from across the U.S. participate annually in this fun, healthy, family event. This year a record number of over 1,100 are expected to be on hand. The 5K (3.1-mile) Island Packet Firecracker 5000 course starts and finishes behind the Mall at Shelter Cove and winds through the fast and flat roads around Shelter Cove Harbour. The festive post-race celebration features live music, fresh fruit, ice cold refreshments, door prizes and more. A percentage of proceeds from the event benefits two local charities: Hilton Head Aquatics and The Hilton Head Runners Club. Race Packet Pick Up and Late Registration will be held Monday, July 3 from 3-6pm at center court inside the Mall at Shelter Cove and on Race Day behind the Mall from 6:30-7:30am.
