Put the fried chicken down and step back from the buffet

Good old Savannah, Georgia. To many tourists, a visit to our fine scenic city is not complete without a trip to the popular restaurants in the historic district to load up on corn bread, fried chicken and other artery-clogging Southern delicacies. But some of us have to live here. Some of us even try to eat healthy, run, bike, or make the daily pilgrimage to the health club to get our butt on the treadmill. In short, we want to feel good and feel good about ourselves. And we know that getting good information about fitness in this city isn’t always easy to come by.

That’s why I created this web site. I’m no fitness guru, nor do I have washboard abs. I became discouraged looking for one place to find all local fitness info, event calendars and training tips, often having to scour dozens of sites to make a complete picture. Savannah deserves one web site that publishes running, bicycling and triathlon events, weightlifting techniques, training tips, aerobics and yoga class times, a message board where fitness-minded people can discuss matters of the heart and health, and more.

Welcome to FitSavannah.com. Like our bodies, it’s a work in progress, so check back often and don’t hesitate to tell us what you like and dislike about the site. And remember, it’s a good idea to get up from the computer every now and then and move!
